At The Zoo

In April, Chris and I went on a little adventure at Utah's Hogle Zoo. The zoo is literately minutes away and in a fun location. We originally planned to meet up with friends from Oregon that were driving through, see the zoo, and come back to our place for lunch. We were half way through the zoo when our friends called and said they had some unexpected car trouble right within the city limits. So we finished up as we walked back through and left to rescue our stranded friends. We ended up seeing everything expect the reptile house (which is perfectly fine with me.)

It was a lovely day, for being April 29th...it felt like late June. Lovely sunny shorts weather! We got there pretty early, but found the parking lot already very full...full of vans and Subaru's. As we got closer to the entrance, I mentioned to Chris..."Honey, I think we forgot our kids." As we were pretty much the only adults there without children in tow. :) We had a lovely time walking around and checking out the animals. This zoo is great for children, not to huge, easy to navigate, kid friendly and educational. We enjoyed it immensely ! :)

The Giraffes were out, but the Zebras must have been napping somewhere else. Pretty much all of the cats were sleeping, as were the Gorillas. Everyone was being lazy that day and taking in the shade before it got to hot. Smart move!

Lazy Lions...

The Rhinos were out and about!

So were the Elephants!

The Grizzly Bears were playing in and out of the water. But the poor Polar Bear seemed distressed as he paced back and forth...and crying. I felt so sad!

I found this creature enjoying the shade near the bears. He was actually available to take home. He was cute and seemed well behaved....so I brought him home with me.

I believe this was the Snow Leopard...and Chris trying to get a better look.

He looked so soft and cuddly! (Can you tell I miss having a cat around?)

You can't really see very well...but this is the Tiger...on his back...sleeping. The lazy bum!

A view from the top of the hill within the zoo, looking toward This Is The Place (which is another site we wish to get to soon). Spring in Utah is lovely!

Anyway, that was our little zoo adventure. Just enough walking and sun to feel good and not get too tired out.
