Wedding in August

August 2015 - Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland

This August we dashed to PA for a wedding I was not going to miss. My beloved brother got married to his lovely girl and it was marvelous! Here is a quick recount of our whirlwind trip with many adventures.

First up, a totally unflattering picture of the two of us. This is us at midnight, on our way to make it to PA in time for the rehearsal dinner....

We almost did not make it in time. We flew all night and got to Atlanta when the airport was waking up for the day. Our flight to PHL was already looking risky and when we arrived at our gate it was not looking good. We tried to rest while we waited. Chris is a pro at napping at airports, I still am way too aware of what is going on around me. We barely made it on to our next flight...like Chris was getting a seat and I was not. Until the gate agent paused and said GO! We ran down as they closed the door behind us and one other guy. Oh, my poor nerves!

We made it to PHL, got our fancy black rental car, and made it to my parents house in time to take a nap.

Here we are checking out the wedding venue after the rehearsal dinner. I can not believe I have never been to Rock Ford Planation. Seriously...what is wrong with me?! It is beautiful!

The groom waiting for everyone to get their act together. :-)

It only seemed fitting that there were tons of deer hanging out in the orchard. It's difficult to see all of them, but there were many.

I sure wish we could have toured the inside. Next time...

The day of the wedding. Chris became the last minute DJ and here are the guys waiting for the ladies to arrive.

A sister is allowed to be super biased right? Well, here is the good looking groom waiting for things to get started. Yes, I cried....the entire time. Happy tears of course!

Mr. and Mrs. They were so cute up there, all nervous, but so excited.

It's so much fun having a champagne named after your family! Just kidding, but still...

I loved their decorations, a great mix of both bride and groom.

And seriously...Chipotle food! How awesome is that?

Our cousin/best man giving a speech only Patrick can.

DJ and M.C. being super cool. These two were masters at their jobs!

Dancing the night away....

Chris and I even danced! My goal this summer was to be well enough to dance at my brother's wedding. I did! Chris made sure I did not over do it (I tried, don't worry) and we had a lovely time.

Early the next morning we polished up our fancy rental car and put on our caps. We had the honor and privilege to drive the newlyweds to the airport. Everyone perked up after a brief stop at Starbucks and we happily made our way to Baltimore.

It was around 8:30am when we sent the happy couple off....so now what? Well, when in Rome right?
We were running on very little sleep since two days before, but we could not pass up a new city for Chris and an old friend of mine. So, we played tourists for a few hours!

The Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

We waited for Fort McHenry to open that morning. We were the firsts ones in and right behind us was a bus full of Russians. The park rangers were hilarious in trying to communicate with them. But, everyone seemed to have a great time!

We wanted to watch the flag raising and Chris ended up participating. Chris and the Russians put up the new flag and took down the old one. It was awesome to watch!

We had a great time, but it was hot, muggy, and we were starting to get grumpy. It was time to drive back and sleep. The next day we drove back to PHL and flew home.

With some help from Sherlock Holmes and Samuel Adams...we had a calm and restful flight home.

Our mountains...We flew in from the south and had a lovely view of the Wasatch range.

Thus ends our brief and very lovely trip to PA in August!
