"Lydia The Tattooed Lady"

(What to do in order to fit in with the 20something crowd in our neighborhood)

July, 2014

Portlanders are very vocal about being and staying weird. SLC folks are quiet about it. They are unique, hip, kinda “Portlander” but different. The look – hipster/grunge. Sun kissed with really really nice hair. The men – many are very well groomed and could be models. Maybe they are? The women – hipster, vintage, some rather punkish, some very Jess from New Girl. Many have tattoos.

I have noticed in our little block and at this coffee shop, many of these people have dipped their elbows in ink. Beautifully detailed designs all on their elbows.

So, in order for us to fit in Chris and I decided to change our look (right now we look like pale faced pacific northwesterners.)

Chris will be sporting more v-neck t-shirts, a full beard, sporting longer hair (but shorter at the sides) and manflops....with a tattoo on his arm and elbow. It will most likely be aviation related and maybe a heart motif with my name engraved upon his arm.

Me...Combat boots with short floral 90s style dresses, messenger bag, new fringe and bolder glasses. Oh, and a tattoo on the back of my right shoulder of an Indian elephant.

We also plan to get a Standard Poodle (black) and name him Napoleon.

….Just Kidding (about the new fringe anyway)

P.S. Don't tell Jo about the elephant tattoo. The temptation may be too great!
